During the presidential campaign, Republicans focused on the repeal of the Affordable Health Care Act on both the congressional and presidential level. They retained control of Congress and won the presidency and are now facing the difficult task of what to replace the act with.
The ACA — while a step in the right direction — was not perfect but was the first real attempt to provide coverage for all Americans. Health care reform is something that cannot be done halfway. Republican governors in many states refused to implement the plan. Insurance companies pulled out of many markets removing competition for lower rates.
