The Lake County Democratic Party meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Tavares Civic Center, 110 Caroline St., Tavares, FL at 7 PM. But that's not our story. In just a few months, Democrats from all over the country will gather in Charlotte to nominate President Obama for a second term. The Road to the Democratic National Convention begins in the Lake County DEC Join us now and learn how to take part in this historic gathering! The Democratic National Convention is firmly held in American history as an historic event in the life of the nation. Nothing can compare to the thrill, excitement and exhilaration of witnessing our nation’s Democratic leaders share their vision, ideas and passion with fellow Democrats from all over the United States. Convention updates will be standing agenda item at our DEC meetings this year. The process for being named a delegate will be different in 2012 than it was in 2008, so it is important that you attend the DEC meetings and learn how it all works. It's also important that Democrats who are not DEC members - but who are interested in the convention - get connected. Put these dates on your calendar and make sure other Democrats know about them too. May 5 - Lake County Convention/Delegate Nominations to State Convention June 2 - Florida State Democratic Convention/Delegate Nominations to Charlotte Convention September 3-7 - Democratic National Convention in Charlotte
